In the search window on the map, input an address, City,State or zip. 

You have 5 options to pick from on how you want the output of the map to look. I personnaly like the Hybrid. Double click to zoom in.

The 5th option is Earth. You need to load a plugin for this to work, it's free to download. Just click on the link supplied when you pick Earth. It will take around 3 minutes to download and install. I think you will be impressed with the results of earth. Play around with the controls.
